Foghat and The Kentucky Headhunters team-up to complete a perfect evening at the Kentucky State Fair.
It’s the middle of “Fair season” across the United States which means livestock exhibits, hot tub specials, craft and agriculture competitions, food, games & rides and of course concerts. This weekend is the opening weekend of the 119th Kentucky State Fair and the Texas Roadhouse Concert series offers a broad and exciting mix of musical genres and artists.
It’s a glorious evening in The Commonwealth as hometown heroes and Grammy Award winning The Kentucky Headhunters get the party started. Featuring Doug Phelps (vocals, bass guitar), Greg Martin (vocals, lead guitar), and brothers Richard Young (vocals, rhythm guitar) and Fred Young (vocals, drums), The Headhunters shine on the fair stage with a fun and lively set that has many in attendance singing right along with the guys.
Treating Kentucky to an evening of classic Rock and Roll is none other than the Legendary English rock band, Foghat! Incredibly Foghat, today still features founding drummer Roger Earl and is rounded out by lead guitarist Bryan Bassett (since 1999), bassist Rodney O’Quinn and vocalist/rhythm guitarist Scott Holt who joined the band after guitarist/vocalist Charlie Huhn retired in 2022 after 20+ years with the band. Treating fans to a string of Foghat hits starting off with fan favorite “Fool for the City” along with “Stone Blue”, “Somebody’s Been Sleeping (In My Bed) and mega Hit “I Just Want to Make Love to You” Foghat and the great Saturday evening crowd were clearly “in the Zone” and having a great time.
Expertly mixed into the set was a lively Robert Johnson cover of “Sweet Home Chicago” and a fun, on your feet, sing along Wild Cherry Cover of “Play That Funky Music”. There was only one thing missing from the perfect evening of fun and classic music and Foghat rectified that, closing their set and the evening with their Mega hit “Slow Ride”.
