Metal Night at The Sanctuary in Louisville, KY 25-MAR-23

The amazing talent and musicianship of the Louisville metal scene was on full display for everyone to see at Metal Night at The Sanctuary with Eulogy In Blood, Overload, Kur and Blood Curse.

First things first, The Louisville Music scene is strong, vibrant, exciting, and thriving!  Over the past year alone there have been so many new albums released by artists in the area, it’s too daunting to count. If you add in the countless US tours and national festival performances (Like the open air Full Terror Assault and Blue Ridge Rock Festival) and even a smattering of European tours and you can see the impact of the Louisville scene and the scope of the scene’s influence.

On Saturday night another strong showcase of the Louisville Metal scene was presented at The Art Sanctuary in Louisville.  Presented by Mark Jackson (Overload and host of The Metal Forge metalforgeradio.com) and The Art Sanctuary in Louisville, Metal Night at Art Sanctuary featured Sledge Metal masters Eulogy in Blood, thrash metallers Overload, Blackened death metal from KUR and Cursed Heavy Metal from Blood Curse.  Adding to the evening and keeping the Local Louisville theme strong were artist booths by Russell Jackson, Ryan Case, Ripley Puchetti, Scary Kari Crafts, Featherly Hand Crafted Jewelry and Critical Leather.  The promoters also raffled off the ORIGINAL HAND PAINTED flyer art done by the amazing JRad Spicer from Ageless Art Tattoo and Piercing- Clarksville!

The Art sanctuary is an awesome venue and was a perfect choice for the evening.  The big, comfortable stage, with its excellent sound system and professional lighting allowed for a top notch evening which perfectly complimented the performances.

Opening the evening was Blood Curse.  Featuring Aaron Franks with vocals & guitar along with Olivia Franks on Drums and Scott Briggs with bass & vocals Blood Curse rolled through a lively set including “Isabelle” and “Sorceress”.  Next up in performance order was KUR. While KUR technically hails from nearby Lexington, KY they are no strangers to Louisville and are great friends, so it was great to see them on stage this evening.  Their set included rippers “Solar Raping Your God”, “Hate”, and “Drowning the King’s Heir”.

Halfway through the night and it was time for the Mighty Overload to take the stage.  With Mark Jackson on bass & vocals along with guitarist Todd Hawkins and drummer Mike Taylor Overload tore through a punishing set of original songs with precision and tenacity that everyone in the room was clearly into.  Closing out the night was none other than Eulogy in Blood (EIB). With the ominous and dominating presence of vocalist Scott Martin along with guitarist Chris Justice, bassist Marlon Griffon and drummer Jay Shepherd, EIB blasted through a ferocious set starting off with “Axe To Grind”, “Cleanse The Earth”, “Plagues of Man” before ending the evening with a scorching rendition of “This Is War”.

All in all the evening was a great success and a stellar showcase of just a few of the awesome musicians in the local Louisville Scene.  A huge shout out to Mark Jackson and The Art Sanctuary for making this all happen in such a professional way.  Who’s ready for Metal At the Art Sanctuary – Part II?
