Legends collide at The Machine Shop where Geoff Tate lays down an unforgettable evening of classic metal for enthusiastic fans!
What a year it has been for Geoff Tate and his band! Geoff and the lads have crisscrossed the globe touring all over the world while largely performing the Rage for Order and Empire albums in their entirety (including shows in Greece, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales, France, Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium and of course extensively all across the US), Geoff also hosted 5 different week long fan focused vacation excursions (through his Back Stage Pass Travel program), is a wine vintner (curating and promoting his signature Insania brand) and has been working on a new album to be released sometime in 2023. Showing no signs of slowing down Geoff launched his “Big Rock Show Hits” tour beginning on December 1st in Cleveland, OH and ultimately finishing in Salt Lake City Utah on December 21st – That’s 17 shows in 21 days!

A large and very enthusiastic crowd poured in the Legendary Machine Shop in Flint, MI for the 3rd tour stop on this “Big Rock Show Hits” tour run. Inside the venue, there was a palpable energy as the lights dropped, fans pushed towards the stage and the guys bounded on stage for what would be an epic evening of classic metal. As the tour title suggests, this evening was all about the hits and the guys held nothing back with the opening trio of songs “Empire”, “Another Rainy Night (Without You)” and a surprise rendition of “Desert Dance” from 2003’s Tribe album. There were several more surprises mixed in throughout the set which will not be mentioned here so we don’t ruin it for future shows on the tour.
Supporting Geoff is his international band featuring not one… not two… but THREE guitarists!! Kieran Robertson (Scotland), The James Brown (Ireland) and Alex Hart (United States) along with bassist Jack Ross (Scotland), drummer Danny Laverde (United States) and keyboardist Bruno Sa (Brazil) all provided for the perfect canvas for Geoff’s booming and distinctive vocals all evening long. As the lights came up at the end of the more than 90 minute performance fans were hi-fiving each other and bounding with excitement from what just unfolded in front of them. It was truly an epic evening of legendary metal, performed by a legendary performer at a legendary venue – It doesn’t get much better than this!
As previously mentioned, Geoff Tate’s “Big Rock Show Hits” continues with shows through December 21st (tour is listed below) and picks up again starting January 5th with 11 straight shows and is not something to be missed!
Opening the evening with a hard, edgy, and raucous set was Irish rock singer Mark Daly and The Ravens. Mark Daly is touring in support of his newest EP Nothing To Lose (released Friday December 2nd) and performed all 4 tracks from the EP (Nothing to Lose, Gotta Run, Crying Shame, Bottled Up). On stage with Mark (The Ravens) were guitarists James Brown and Alex Hart along with bassist Jack Ross and drummer Danny Laverde who proved to be the perfect compliment for the evening with a lively and energetic set. Mark and the guys surprised the Machine Shop fans with a wild and entertaining cover of Highly Suspect’s, “Lydia” which immediately elevated the evening to another level.
