Tool provides a journey of epic proportion for 1,000’s of energetic and appreciative Louisvillians!

Back in the summer of 2019 Tool released their 5th studio album Fear Inoculum, the band’s first release in 13 years along with plans for a worldwide tour which had fans devouring tickets as soon as they were available. All these lofty plans were scrapped in early 2020 as the Covid-19 pandemic wreaked havoc on everyday life and brought the live music industry to its knees.
Roll forward to 2022, bands and live music venues have been frantically trying to “return to normal”. In December the Tool announced a massive US and European tour beginning on January 10th, 2022 at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, OR (coincidentally this was the same venue Tool were scheduled to play on March 12, 2020 but was cancelled at the start of the Covid pandemic). As singer Maynard James Keenan remarked, “Let’s finish what we started. Shall we?”
What you witnessed in the Yum Center Friday was very simple. Four men with a loud PA and a
shitload of delay. With only this, Tool generated a mood that could have that lifted monoliths. It
was powerful. It was cathartic. No matter where you were, their music engulfed you.
You saw four men enjoying being the masters of their craft they are. Justin Chancellor’s
(gorgeous) bass tone belched and punched. Adam Jones sat dead center of the mix giving you
a clear snapshot. As an enigmatic singer, Maynard James Keenan maintained expert control of
us all all while having an absolute blast, himself. Danny Carey was flat wonderful. You are doing
yourself a favor by this: follow Tool on social media to keep track of their tour schedule. Make it
a point to see them when you can. Again, it doesn’t matter where you are in the room. These
dudes wrote amazing songs with a kinked up twist. It was rad.
