Devil Be My Judge tears up Louisville with 3DR and Strange Skies.
The energy, musicianship, and showmanship of the Louisville metal scene never cease to amaze. It seems on any given evening in one of the outstanding venues in and around the city these hard-working bands rock like no other. With some serious storms in the forecast for the late evening, Devil Be My Judge, 3DR, and Strange Skies blew the doors off the 21st in Germantown with 3 distinct, rock-solid sets.
Opening the evening were Central Kentucky’s Melodic, groovy and heavy metal band Strange Skies. This 5 piece featuring the gravelly vocals from frontman King Twitch (Adam Bowling) along with the heavy metal minister (lead guitarist, Dustin Brewer), Squanto (guitarist Shaun Owens) drummer Sean Buckler and bassist Stabby McShanks (Austin Conner) laid down the law with a killer set of original music which included their newest single “Chaotic” along with “Pain Helps”, “Still Digging”, and “Grindstone”
Next up in performance order was Louisville, KY’s original Thrash/Doom Metal group Devil Be My Judge. Blasting out of the starting gates with energy and purpose Devil Be My Judge rolled through a fiery set of original songs beginning with “Man Behind The Curtain”, along with “Perfect”, “Pig”, “Steamroller” before finishing up with “I Think It’s Tuesday”
Guitarist Rick Bolinig was a demon all night with a relentless, high-energy performance and frontman Dave Wollums was rock solid delivering a wicked stream of fierce vocals all evening. Rounding out Devil Be My Judge is Kam Dickens/drums, Chadwick Pryor/guitar, and Cody Spaits/bass.
Closing out the evening was 3DR. With a set of sludgy doom music, 3DR included a few songs from their Slaughterhouse EP. 3DR is Jason Michael Reed with vocals, Michael Ryan Dodd on drums, Sammy Fitch on bass, and Brandon Hayward on guitar.
