METAL FEST 7, The JEREMEY WADE NOE Cancer Fighting Weekend in Shepherdsville, KY

Metal Fest 7, a weekend-long celebration of life and metal music while fighting for a cause returns The Boondocks in Shepherdsville, KY on August 3rd through the 5th.

Founded back in 2009 as Music Fest featuring local metal bands (all genres of music were tried in subsequent years, but it was the metal community that really stepped up to help) for one weekend a year with the purpose of making a difference and drawing an awareness of cancer and the importance of cancer testing. 2018 marks the 7th renewal of the event.

The Fest is honoring Jeremy Wade Noe who passed away after losing his fight with cancer back in 2010, 2 days before his 30th birthday.  In talking to longtime friend Allen Ashbaugh, Jeremy is remembered as a country boy from Sonora, Kentucky who would go out of his way to help anyone who needed help or give you the shirt off his back. “God doesn’t put a lot of people on the earth like Jeremy and I want to do my part to have Jeremy remembered for something great”

More from Allen on the real purpose of the fest, “It’s not just old people who die from cancer, I want to do whatever I can do to bring awareness to cancer and the importance of being checked on a regular basis”.

All Metal Fest proceeds are going to the “V Foundation” for Cancer research.  The V Foundation for Cancer Research was founded by ESPN and legendary basketball coach Jim Valvano “Jimmy V” with one goal in mind: to achieve victory over cancer. Since its formation in 1993, the V Foundation has awarded over $200 million in cancer research grants nationwide and has grown to become one of the premier supporters of cutting-edge cancer research.

While the focus of the weekend will be on the music and the cause, the event will be for all ages with several activities including water balloon fights and the like for the kids.
