The Steepwater Band heat things up at The Southgate House in Covington, Ky with support from The Perfect Children.
There was a definite January chill in the air at Southgate House, but that didn’t last for long. Once The Steepwater Band took the stage things heated up in a hurry. This Chicago based band is approaching their 20th anniversary, and as one would expect after all those years together, these guys are a tight unit. With Joe Winters and Tod Bowers providing a solid rhythm section on drums and bass respectively, and Jeff Massey and Eric Saylors adding raw and gritty guitar, together these guys have the incredible synergy most bands can only dream of.
If forced to choose one word to describe their set, it would have to be “Groove”. For nearly 2 hours, The Steepwater Band played one song after another from their ample catalog with no less than 8 tunes from their most recent studio release 2016’s Shake Your Faith. They hit one bluesy groove after another from the opening song, Remember The Taker, to the final song of the night, an excellent cover of Neil Young’s Cinnamon Girl.
As they approach their 20-year anniversary, The Steepwater Band have decided to take a break for the remainder of 2018 in order to enjoy the first-ever downtime in the band’s history and focus on new music for 2019.

Opening the night was Cincinnati based band, The Perfect Children. This band is an infectious blend of rock, blues, folk and everything in between with rich vocals that are perfectly blended. It is impossible not to tap your feet at the minimum. The Perfect Children’s fun and entertaining set was a great way to kick things off.
