Tyler Bryant and The Shakedown’s Truth and Lies album release show set The High Watt ablaze.
There has been a constant, growing rumble in Nashville and areas beyond as Tyler Bryant and The Shakedown have been bringing their raucous, blues-infused ‘Rock and Roll’ to stages from California to New York and parts in between. The latest, much-anticipated addition to the TBSD catalog, Truth and Lies was officially released Friday, June 28th after the band previously released singles “Shock & Awe,” “On To the Next” as well as soon to be sing-along favorite “Ride”.
Folks traveled from far and wide to be part of this special hometown event, which was not just an album release celebration but also the first time the band had performed one of their albums in its entirety, setting the tone for a remarkable night.
The band’s excitement was readily apparent and infectious as the house lights dropped Tyler, guitarist Graham Whitford, bassist Noah Denney along with Caleb Crosby behind the drums took their places on stage, immediately launching the first three songs from the album “Shock & Awe,” “On To The Next” and “Ride”. Taking the first of what would be many short breaks to share a few words with the crowd, Tyler commented that he would finally be able to sleep after having these songs bottled up and now finally being able to get to get this album out in the world. The band seemed to be in a bit of shock and awe themselves when it became obvious that in the less than 24 hours since the album was released there were already a large number of enthusiastic fans who already knew all the words and we prepared to sing along.
The energy kept pouring from the stage as TBSD rolled through the Truth and Lies tracks and the crowd was doing their best to give all that energy back. There were plenty of thanks coming from Tyler Bryant for everyone who came to the show and participated in the making of what is arguably their best record to date. The sold out crowd needed no thanks as they fed the overall feel good vibe of the night with a mutual appreciation of their own.
TBSD followed up the Truth and Lies album with more than a half a dozen fan favorites including “House on Fire,” “Mojo Working,” “Lipstick Wonder Woman” before ending the evening with “Ramblin’ Bones”, with Caleb Crosby and Tyler Bryant making their way into the crowd with snare drum and guitar. After the show, the guys mingled with everyone and anyone who wanted to, signed some autographs and took some pictures, completing a magical evening for the band and the fans alike. It was the perfect launch for an outstanding record.
Tyler Bryant and The Shakedown are currently touring with UK’s The Temperature Movement, a perfect pairing.
