Tank and the Bangas transform Manchester Music Hall in Lexington into one big dance party with support from Maggie Koerner
Tank and The Bangas made a stop in Lexington, KY to play at Manchester Music Hall as part of their Live Vibes tour promoting their upcoming release, Green Balloon, set to drop on May 3rd. Supported by fellow New Orleans based artist Maggie Koerner, Tank and the Bangas put in a fantastic show that had something for everyone.
Starting quickly with their hit “Quick,” every single person in the Thursday night crowd is dancing within minutes. With a crowded stage full of unique personalities, there is no shortage of entertainment; there is always something catching your eye. With carefully orchestrated transitions between each song, the night feels more like a performance of a single hour and a half long song, which keeps everyone engaged as the night goes on.\
There are several significantly memorable moments of the night, including vocal contributions from the audience on their recent single “Smoke, Netflix, Chill” and a wild saxophone solo from Albert Allenback. The night is capped in the most memorable fashion, with an inspired cover of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” With not a single person left in the building yet to dance, it feels as if the night is over with the crowd still ready for more. Tank and the Bangas ended the night with an incredible night of hip hop, soul, spoken word, and funk. Now, we wait for new music and yet another reason to be excited by this band.
Opener Maggie Koerner’s powerful vocals and unique New Orleans blues and soul style impressed, starting the night off in the best possible way. She will be playing The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival on April 27th and is definitely a show to look out for.
