Memphis May Fire sets Louisville ablaze with He Is Legend, Savage After Midnight, Taken Lives and Wake Up In Tsunami.
On a cold and genuinely dreary evening in Louisville the place to be seemed to be Diamonds Pub Concert Hall. Well before the scheduled door opening, the line outside the venue was growing exponentially, many already donning various Memphis May Fire merch and talking excitedly about what the evening would hold. Memphis May Fire is touring in support of their sixth studio album, Broken, released on November 16, 2018, on Rise Records.
With the large crowd well warmed up and crammed around the stage-front you could feel the excitement in the air. As the house lights drop, Memphis May Fire quickly take their places and launch immediately into “Prove Me Right,” along with “Sever the Ties” and “Beneath the Skin” with an explosive amount of energy.
While the circle pit rages along with the music, lead singer Matty Mullins pours out energy with a fiery tenacity, leading MMF through huge fan favorite “Carry On” along with the first single from the Broken album “The Old Me”, and personal favorite “Stay The Course” from their 2014 Unconditional album.
Now well into their set things slow down a little as “Miles Away” is next in the performance order followed in rapid-fire succession by “The Deceived” and “No Ordinary Love” before closing their main set with a fierce performance of their mega-hit “The Sinner” from their 2011 The Hollow Album.
Memphis May Fire close out a great evening with a 2 song encore set beginning with “Without Walls” followed by huge fan favorite “Vices”.
Providing main support this evening were North Carolina rockers He Is Legend. Wasting little time, He is Legend come out ready for action as they start off their set with their latest Single “White Bat” and never look back. On the smallish Diamonds Pub stage, frontman Schuylar Croom is in complete control while pouring out energy as the band rolls through favorites “Sand,” “Attack of the Dungeon Witch” and “Mean Shadows”. It was great to see the guys at their merch table after their set, interacting with anyone who wanted to meet them.
The first of the touring groups to perform was Savage After Midnight. There were many in attendance looking forward to seeing Savage After Midnight as the group is touring in support of their upcoming album 11:59 set to be released on March 8th and their single “10 Feet Tall” which is getting lots of play on the Sirius Octane channel. Savage After Midnight definitely didn’t disappoint with a full-throttle set of songs ending with the aforementioned single “10 Feet Tall”.
The evening started off with some great local firepower as Louisville, Kentucky based metallers Taken Lives and Bardstown, Kentucky hardcore rockers Wake Up In Tsunami each ripped through energetic sets of original songs.
